Rubino Academy
Rubino Academy is an alternative school located in Ewing, New Jersey, serving students in grades 9-12 who have been removed from their district’s school for disciplinary reasons.
This program is designed to accomplish two principal goals: (1) To graduate students who have not been successful in a traditional high school setting; and (2) To provide students with the necessary skills to complete a successful transition into an appropriate post-secondary setting that builds on their skills and expands their career opportunities. A significant component of the curriculum focuses on academic remediation and acceleration toward basic skills which will better prepare students to pass the HSPA.
Using New Jersey Department of Education Core Curriculum Content Standards (CCCS) as the curriculum framework, students are provided instruction by appropriately certified staff with a curriculum that meets New Jersey high school completion standards. Vocational and job skills training are interwoven throughout the curriculum. A campus-based student services director will provide one-on-one counseling and support to every student, while seeking participation and input from parents or guardians to support each student’s academic program and his or her successful transition into an appropriate post-secondary program. The program includes six months of post-graduation follow up services for each student. To ensure a positive and safe school climate, a student code of conduct and campus-wide behavioral management model is applied consistently campus-wide.
